Book Talks are 1-hour programs dedicated to one featured book in which the facilitator prepares a brief presentation detailing key take aways from the book and leads a discussion of issues surrounding the subject matter presented in the book. This provides attendees with the opportunity to preview the book and gain insight into various issues in education.

Faculty Reading Circles are small groups of faculty who meet at times determined by the group to discuss a common book. Much like Book Talk, these synchronous (virtual, face-to-face) meetings are designed to provide colleagues with an opportunity to share ideas about teaching and learning in an informal setting with peers from across the University.

This program is required of all new faculty, full-time faculty and staff (Academic Affairs) members.

Welcome Aboard! New Faculty and Staff Orientation is a program facilitated by The Center for Teaching & Learning and Academic Affairs that is designed to orient and assist new faculty full-time faculty, regardless of rank and Academic Affairs staff to ECSU. This orientation consists of four- five hour session focusing on key resources, services, and information designed to assist and support new faculty and staff in getting started in their role on campus.

New Adjunct Training and Orientation

This program is required of all new part-time (adjunct) faculty. Orientation sessions are held at the beginning of the spring and fall semesters.

Training tailored to keep all adjunct faculty up to date regarding ECSU academic policies, services, support, and technology.

This bootcamp is designed to help you make time for writing and reflection and to form a scholarly learning community of writers who can help you keep the momentum going. Participants will gather in person and  virtually with other ECSU faculty who are eager to move forward this fall with their research-related writing (books, articles, dissertations, statements, grants, proposals, creative projects, etc.).

The opening session will be an introductory workshop to discuss our roles as writers and scholars and share strategies for managing our work and creating a writing community. After that session, the bootcamp will meet on dates designated in the CTL calendar for shared reflection on your own writing, and just writing together. The meetings will take place in the Center for Teaching and Learning, Lane Hall, Room 105.
