The event honored academic excellence, leadership and character—hallmarks of the internationally recognized business honor society.
The ceremony highlighted award recipients as outstanding juniors and seniors and new
inductees into Beta Gamma Sigma, reinforcing ECSU’s commitment to developing competitive

“Our students put forth commitment and dedication—not just in academics, but in campus
activities as well,” said Debjani Kanjilal, professor and chair of the Department
of Business, Accounting and Sports Management.
The department’s mission is to prepare students to contribute to economic growth in
Northeastern North Carolina and beyond, through classroom learning, research and community
engagement.
The ceremony served as both recognition and motivation, and a reminder that excellence
at ECSU isn’t just encouraged; it’s expected. “These students make us who we are,”
said Kanjilal. As students progress in their academic journey, they carry more than
awards and honors. They have the responsibility of leadership and the promise of impact.
Their achievements reflect ECSU’s efforts to prepare students for professional success
