ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — Elizabeth City State University (ECSU), in partnership with Greyhound and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), announced the launch of a new Greyhound bus stop at the K.E. White Center. Effective yesterday, this addition expands affordable and reliable intercity transportation options for ECSU students, faculty, staff, and residents of Elizabeth City and surrounding communities.

This new service connects travelers to key destinations such as Richmond, Myrtle Beach, and other cities along NCDOT’s Coastal Plains Connector, offering two trips daily, seven days a week.

With this stop, ECSU becomes a vital hub for affordable and convenient travel while supporting local economic growth and regional connectivity.

“The new ECSU stop offers students, faculty, and local residents an affordable and convenient way to travel and stay connected,” said Karina Frayter, head of communications at Flix North America—the company that oversees the operations of Greyhound and FlixBus across North America. “Partnering with ECSU and NCDOT on this project underscores our commitment to making essential intercity transportation more accessible for university communities across North America.”

The stop is designed to cater to modern travelers with amenities like onboard Wi-Fi, charging outlets at every seat and comfortable seating. Greyhound’s mobile app and website further simplify the travel experience with features for booking tickets, viewing schedules and accessing real-time travel updates.

Nichole Lewis, associate vice chancellor of student affairs and dean of students, expressed the university’s enthusiasm for the new stop. “Elizabeth City State University is proud to strengthen our partnerships within our community and beyond. This new Greyhound stop provides our students, faculty, and the wider community with affordable and reliable transportation to and from campus. It’s a meaningful addition that also opens greater access to our campus venues and facilities, furthering our commitment to making ECSU a choice destination for education and engagement,” Lewis said.

NCDOT also celebrated the project’s impact on the region. Brennon Fuqua, NCDOT’s Integrated Mobility Division director, said, “We’re thrilled about this new on-campus Greyhound stop that will benefit the university and city alike. This is the latest example of how working in partnership on transportation projects and goals increases access to a robust, reliable, and safe transportation network statewide and, ultimately, beyond.”
