Elizabeth City, N.C. — Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) is witnessing a significant enrollment climb for the seventh consecutive year. As the institution awaits the final census report, Monday's start of classes and the number of students living on campus were solid indicators marking ECSU on a continued upward path. With the first week of classes now behind them, this increase in student numbers fills the university’s housing to 100% capacity, making for a packed house—literally.
"We are thrilled to welcome our students back to campus, where they choose to live, learn and grow," said Kevin Wade, vice chancellor of Student Affairs and interim vice chancellor of University Advancement.
To further support the university's growth, ECSU started the construction of a new residence hall, set to open in Fall 2025. This expansion drives the institution in the positive direction for growth, while maintaining the community-oriented environment.
With a record-breaking freshman class, increased number of transfer students and plans for new housing, ECSU is positioned to continue its growth. The institution plans to stay committed to giving students an educational experience worth writing home about.
