ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) has a message for adult learners everywhere – ECSU is for You!

In its latest push to attract students who desire affordable excellence in their choice for higher education and may be pressed for time, administrators want to ensure prospective students and their families are made aware of the opportunities available to them right here in the Harbor of Hospitality.

“Many of our programs at ECSU were intentionally developed to provide individuals in our community, region, and state an opportunity to gain skills and academic credentials to enhance their knowledge, improve their career opportunities, and stay competitive in today’s rapidly changing job market,” said ECSU provost Farrah Ward.

In an effort to make good on the promise to provide access to students seeking to be educated in diverse disciplines, ECSU has added a bachelor’s degree in health and wellness promotion and the masters of school administration to its existing roster of online degree programs. ECSU also offers a bachelor’s in homeland security and interdisciplinary studies, as well as a master’s in elementary education.

Five new certificate programs – four of them online – for people who may already be working in their chosen discipline and may be looking to advance their career by becoming certified in a particular subject area.

The online certificates in emergency management natural disaster management, substance use and addiction, victim’s advocacy, and education residency offer flexibility for working professionals, while the face-to-face option for unmanned aircraft systems gives students to opportunity to regularly engage faculty and personnel in a more traditional environment.

Thanks to NC Promise initiative, ECSU offers in-state tuition at a cost of $500 per semester for in-state students and $2,500 for out-of-state students. Students who have military affiliations, either as a veteran or the dependent of a veteran, may be eligible to pay even less with if they qualify for educational benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

“ECSU is uniquely equipped to prepare today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders at an affordable price while helping to bridge the gap of access to education,” Ward said.
