ECSU Campus Update: April 27, 2025

ECSU Police, Elizabeth City Police, Pasquotank County Sherriff’s Office, Camden County Sherriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) are continuing an investigation into an on-campus shooting that took place overnight. There is no immediate threat to the campus community at this time, and ECSU Police has increased patrols across the campus for added safety. Access to the center of campus is limited on Sunday.

The university is deeply saddened by this senseless act. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and all members of the Viking community affected by this tragedy.

Counseling Services

ECSU Counseling Services will be available today, Sunday, April 27, 2025, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center to offer counseling and support services for students, faculty and staff who have experienced trauma or distress. If immediate support is needed, on-call and after-hours counseling support is offered at 252-335-3275. 

 

Campus Dining and Shuttle

For students on campus, Bedell Dining Hall will be closed today, Sunday, April 27, 2025. Breakfast will be delivered to each residence hall beginning at 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. and dinner will be provided from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m., both at the K. E. White Graduate Center. Shuttle services will be available for students.
