Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) has appointed Dr. Kevin Wade to serve as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs effective August 15, 2024.

Wade, an ECSU graduate, brings over 15 years of experience serving at our nation’s community colleges and public & private Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Elizabeth City State University, Wade went on to receive a Masters of Public Administration from Troy University and Doctor of Education degree from Morgan State University.

He transitions to this role after most recently serving as Interim Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and University Advancement and prior Associate Vice Chancellor of Student, Alumni, and Constituent Engagement with oversight of Career and Professional Development Center and the Quality Enhancement Plan, TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC), and the Office of Alumni Relations and Engagement.  Additionally, Wade led several high-impact initiatives across the university that enhanced visibility and fostered greater engagement for students, alums, community members, and donors (e.g., Community Connections, Homecoming, Viking Fest, and National Alumni Association, Inc. initiatives).

As Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, Wade will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of the student experience including student engagement and leadership, student conduct, residence life, counseling and career services, and health and wellness. The primary focus is fostering a supportive campus environment that empowers every student to achieve their full potential.
