Message from the Director
Greetings Vikings,
Welcome to G.R. Little Library. The library staff are here and ready to support you academically and beyond. We have embraced the idea that ECSU gives you a holistic, full life experience during your time on campus, and we strive to make the library a safe place to study and get help with your assignments, as well as relax, hang out, and have fun.
As library and information scientists, we excel in helping you find and assess research materials and then synthesize that information responsibly in your academic work. We have subject-specific research guides, hundreds of databases, thousands of online journals, magazines, and newspapers relevant to all our academic departments, hundreds of thousands of physical books, and millions of online books. If all our resources differ from what you need, we can obtain almost anything from one of our sister UNC system libraries or one from the thousands of libraries across the US we are networked with. The librarians can show you successful research methods, find a fun book to read, or help you assemble a jigsaw puzzle.
We at the library encourage you to open yourself to all the experiences this time in your life offers you. Education is the most significant investment you will make in yourself, and you should get your money’s worth. At the same time, make sure you protect your mental health. Anxiety and stress can negatively impact your educational experience. Take brain breaks. Have some fun downtime. The library offers game cabinets loaded with board games, card games, puzzles, and art supplies to support your leisure time. Laugh often, breathe deeply, drink more water, and eat more fruits and vegetables. Come, see, and enjoy your library. We are here to help you and are your fans. We are cheering for you, as are all the university’s faculty and staff. We all believe in you, we believe in your future, and you are awesome.
