The Viking One Card is the official Identification card and access card for Elizabeth City State University. The Viking One Card is a multipurpose card, serving as the official ID card and as an on-campus debit card. All ECSU students, faculty, and staff are required to have the Viking One Card with them while they are on campus. If the card will be used for identification only, there is no requirement to deposit funds in the Viking One account. The Viking One Card is the property of the University and should be carried with the cardholder at all times while on campus. The ID card is not transferable. Altering or lending this card will subject the cardholder to disciplinary action. Only the person pictured on the ID card will be allowed to use the card.
* You must be registered for classes and your student account financially cleared for the current semester. The Viking Card Access Service Fee must be included in your tuition and fees.

Acquiring a New or Replacement Card
New employees will receive their Viking One Card during onboarding. You will need to complete the Employee - Viking ID Request Form to begin the process. Your supervisor and Viking ID Services team will be notified to process your request. Once approved, you will receive an email with a secure link to schedule your card issuance appointment.
However, there is a $20 replacement fee if the card is lost, stolen or misplaced.
If an ID card is damaged, there is a $10 replacement fee, providing the most recently issued damaged card is turned in at the time of the appointment. The ID card is to be used only by the individual whose name and photo appears on the card.
NOTE: At this time, we only accept debit/credit card payments. Payments for your ID Card will be made at the time of your appointment.

- Keep in mind these requests will need to be approved by the department fund manager
prior to setting an appointment for your new card.
- If this step isn't followed, each appointment will be canceled until the form is approved by all parties and marked as completed.

According to Pursuant to N.C.G.S. §§ 163A-1145.2(a), 163A-1145.3(a) and 2018 N.C. Sess. Laws 144, sec. 1.2.(f) your ECSU issued Viking ID Card student identification cards and employee identification cards are approved for use as photo identification to vote under N.C.G.S. § 163A-1145.1 for the primaries and general election.
Disciplinary actions may result from any card being used by an unauthorized user, anyone other than the person depicted on the card, the card shall be confiscated and turned in to Viking ID Services or University Police.
Requirements for your general ID image:
- Taken in full-face view directly facing the camera with a neutral expression or smiling.
- Have your face clearly visible and shoulders square to the camera. (complete head must be in photo, shoulders facing forward)
- Current ID's should have a solid blue background.
- Do not wear a hat or head covering that obscures the hair or hairline, unless worn daily for a religious purpose. Your full face must be visible, and the head covering must not cast any shadows on your face.
- Tinted eye wear is not acceptable.
- Headphones, wireless hands-free devices (earbuds), or other objects that obscure your face are not acceptable in your photo.
Please bring least one form of photo identification to have your identity confirmed. Pictures on cell phones of identification will not be accepted. Actual documents must be presented.
Below are examples of valid identifications.
- Photo ID must be a valid U.S. Driver’s License, U.S. State ID, U.S.Military ID or Passport
- Photo ID must be clear and readable
- Photo ID must be the complete ID: showing face, name, date of birth and expiration date
Viking One Card Account
The Viking One account is a general-purpose, prepaid, declining balance purchase plan. Viking ID Services administers all Viking One account financial activities. Students must be registered and their student accounts cleared to receive a Viking One Card. Upon the initial deposit, the Viking One Card will establish an electronic balance in the cardholder’s name. All sale transactions are debited from the Viking One account electronically. The cardholder shall be responsible for observing the debit transaction at the time of the sale and for monitoring the current account balance. Each individual is responsible for managing his/her account. A Viking One account is like cash – IT MUST BE PROTECTED.
There are no transaction charges. No interest is earned. This card is not a credit card. Purchase returns will be credited to the Viking One accounts. Purchases will not be permitted with a malfunctioning card. There are no limitations on the number of times the Viking One Card may be used or the dollar amount of any transaction, so long as the purchase amount does not exceed the account balance.
Deposits to the Viking One account are the property of the cardholder on the account. Deposits into the Viking One account can be made via the online Transact eAccounts Portal. No minimum deposit is required. Deposited funds are available immediately.
First Time Use
1. Go to eAccounts Home
2. Sign in with SSO log in
3. Click Add Money
4. Choose when you want the deposit to occur
5. Choose account, select deposit type, and insert amount
6. Enter credit card info and check “Save this payment method for future use”
7. Click Make Deposit
8. Download the Transact eAccounts mobile app for Android or iOS for easy access on your phone
*Please note:
- You can only add your credit/debit card to your account through the website (not the app).
For Guest Deposits
1. Go to eAccounts Home
2. Click on Make a guest deposit
3. Enter the university email address of the person receiving the funds
4. Choose eCash as the account to deposit funds into
5. Enter the amount you wish to deposit
6. Enter your credit card information
7. Select Make Deposit
Unlike with meal swipes, unused Viking Bucks can carry over from Fall to Spring semesters. However, all Viking Bucks funds expire annually in May.
Viking One Cardholders may apply, in person, or writing, for a refund at the end of the semester in which the student graduates, or at any other time during the semester if the student officially withdraws from enrollment at ECSU. If a student is requesting at any time other than the end of an academic year, he or she may be required to produce documentation of his or her graduation or official withdrawal.
This request for a refund must be made at Viking ID Services during its regular business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (excluding University holidays and closures). No refunds will be issued for account balances less than $5. Requested refunds will be paid by check and processed within approximately six weeks of notification.
I accept the terms and conditions of the Viking One account stated as follows:
- I understand my Viking One account is active as long as I am active with the University.
- My account is closed when I separate from the University.
- I understand I must close my account and request a refund.
- I understand there are no refunds for account balances of $5.00 and under.
- I understand when I separate from the University and I fail to request a refund, the unclaimed balance minus a $25.00 administrative charge will be relinquished to the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer to whom all further claims must be directed.
- I understand the unclaimed balance is subject to my student account is paid in full.
A refund is only available when the student withdraws or graduates from Elizabeth City State University, or when a faculty or staff member ends their employment.
Disclosure of Account Information to Third PartiesECSU Viking ID Services will not disclose account information to third parties, including parents.
Additional Viking ID Information
The Viking One Card is the official identification card for campus and gives faculty and staff a method of payment for services campus-wide, as it does for students. It serves as a campus debit card. Faculty and staff are not required to place funds on their Viking One Card. Replacement cards cost $20.00. Upon termination or separation of employment at ECSU, faculty and staff are required to return their Viking One Cards to Viking ID Services.

To obtain an ID, temporary employees must submit the Viking ID Form and proper identification (driver’s license or state-issued identification card).
Upon termination or separation of employment, temporary employees are required to return their Viking One Card to Viking ID Services. If the Viking One Card is lost, stolen, or misplaced there is a $20.00 replacement charge.
The cardholder is responsible for immediately reporting a lost, stolen, or misplaced card to Viking ID Services, Room 111 Welcome Center during business hours, or to the University Police Office after hours.
Business hours are Monday: Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. If reported after hours, the cardholder must come to Viking ID Services during business hours for a replacement card.
The replacement charge for a lost, stolen, or misplaced card is $20.00.
The replacement charge for a mutilated (damaged) card is $10.00 provided the current
active damaged card is turned in at that time.
The cardholder is responsible for all financial activity including accrued minus amounts
generated by the use of his or her card and agrees to pay for that activity. If the
Viking One Card is lost or stolen:
- The cardholder should immediately log into their Viking One account to suspend their card.
- The cardholder is responsible for unauthorized purchases.
- The cardholder may have unlimited responsibility for unauthorized purchases if he or she does not report the loss to the ECSU Viking ID Services Card Office within sixty (60) business days or immediately suspend the card.
Disciplinary actions may result from any card being used by an unauthorized user or anyone other than the person depicted on the card. The card shall be confiscated and turned in to Viking ID Services or University Police.
A valid photo driver’s license, passport, or state-issued photo ID is required to receive a Viking One Card.
No person should have more than one Viking One Card.
THINGS TO AVOID IN ORDER TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR ID CARD:
- Sharing your ID card is prohibited
- Placing your ID card next to an abrasive surface
- Exposing your card to extreme temperatures.
- Placing your card close to magnetic fields (such as TV's, stereos, microwaves, computers) as this may erase the ID's magnetic strip. Erased cards will require re-encoding at Viking ID Services.
- Punching holes in ID cards for any reason.
- Sending card through the laundry.
- Scratching the magnetic strip.
- Bending the card.
Viking Center Portal offers the following:
- Deactivate/Reactivate your lost ID card
- Check your Meal/Block plan status
- Check your Viking Bucks fund balance
- E-CA$H Deposit (Prepaid Dollars)
- Parental/Guest E-CA$H Deposit (Prepaid Dollars)
This is a convenient and secure method of adding funds. Viking Bucks (dining money)
are applied in real-time for immediate use! They expire at the end of each spring
term.
Parents or Guests can also add E-CA$H to a student or employee’s ID card - you will need the cardholders 9-digit banner ID number and their birthdate.
E-CA$H placed on the Viking One Card will remain until the student or employee officially withdraws, graduates, or separates from the University.
