Student Support Services
TRIO Student Support Services (TRIO SSS) provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and motivates students toward the successful completion of their post-secondary education. TRIO SSS projects may provide grant aid to current participants receiving a Federal Pell Grant.

The goal of TRIO SSS is to increase its participants' college retention and graduation rates.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT
To be eligible for TRIO Student Support Services, you must be enrolled as a student at Elizabeth City State University and meet one or more of the following criteria: (1) First-generation college student, (2) Meet income requirements per United States Department of Education income guidelines, (3) Have an academic need, (4) An individual with disabilities, and (5) A United States citizen or meet the residency requirements for the Federal Student Financial Assistance Program (FAFSA).

The purpose of TRIO SSS program is to help students throughout their college matriculation by providing the necessary tools and resources needed for degree completion. Since the program can only serve a limited number of participants, it is very important to utilize these services to enhance opportunities for growth and enrichment.

TRIO SSS staff aims to provide academic support services and advisement such as counseling, study-skills, tutorial services, cultural enrichment activities, financial literacy, leadership development, and more. You are eligible for these services until you graduate from ECSU!
In addition, should you decide to continue your academic career after graduating from ECSU, we will also assist you with graduate/professional school admission procedures and requirements. All these services are provided to you at NO COST!
Services
We offer participants one-on-one academic, personal, and career counseling. Academic counseling is tailored to fit the individual needs of each student and can include such areas as test anxiety, test taking strategies, time management, and study skills. Services are available to program participants who are enrolled at Elizabeth City State University.
SSS workshops and cultural activities are offered throughout the academic school year. These workshops and/or activities cover a wide variety of topics that enrich students both academically and personally. Periodic emails will announce upcoming workshops and activities.
TRIO SSS Computer/Tutorial lab is reserved and available to program participants ONLY. Students have internet access and printers to accommodate their academic needs. Lab hours are 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Financial assistance, which includes Grant Aid, is available to eligible program participants during the spring semester. Information on how to apply will be available towards the end of the fall semester.
