Hands-On Crime Scene Investigation Camp: Learn from Local Law Enforcement Experts

This camp will explore crime scene investigations from the law enforcement aspect. Participants will have 4 days of hands-on experiential learning with current area law enforcement officers and will have an opportunity to, among other things, process interior and exterior mock crime scenes, in small groups, and to build positive relationships with local law enforcement officers.

Meals being offered: Lunch and snacks/water will be provided to participants each day

Topics Covered:

  • Crime Scene Investigation Basics: Introduction to crime scene processing techniques
  • Evidence Collection: Methods for collecting and preserving physical evidence
  • Forensic Techniques: Overview of forensic science and its role in investigations
  • Investigative Procedures: Procedures followed by law enforcement during a crime scene investigation
  • Law Enforcement Ethics and Protocol: Understanding the ethics and protocols in criminal investigations

Hands-On Experience:

  • Mock Crime Scene Processing: Participate in both interior and exterior mock crime scenes
  • Evidence Collection Practice: Collect and document evidence from crime scenes
  • Fingerprinting and DNA Sampling: Techniques for identifying and analyzing physical evidence
  • Crime Scene Photography: Learn how to properly document a crime scene through photography
  • Team-Based Investigations: Collaborate in small groups to solve mock cases with guidance from law enforcement officers

$20 per participant- there may be some scholarships available for participants unable to pay the participation fee
