Website Governance and Management
The Information Technology (IT) Department leads the management, development, and ongoing support of the ECSU website. IT ensures the website is secure, accessible, reliable, and aligned with institutional technology standards while providing a strong user-centered experience.
IT is responsible for:
- Managing the website’s technical infrastructure, platform, and content management system (CMS)
- Overseeing site architecture, navigation, and usability to ensure an optimal user experience
- Implementing security, accessibility (ADA compliance), and performance standards
- Supporting integration with enterprise systems and third-party tools
- Monitoring and maintaining the health, uptime, and functionality of the website
- Providing technical guidance for new features, enhancements, and digital solutions
- Delivering training and support to website content editors and contributors across campus
- Enforcing web standards, governance policies, and best practices
- Collaborating with vendors to implement technical enhancements and web-based solutions
Content and Strategic Collaboration
While IT manages the technical framework of the website, Communications and Marketing (CAM) partners with IT to ensure that web content aligns with the university’s brand, messaging, and strategic communication goals.
In collaboration with IT, CAM:
- Develops and refines high-level messaging and brand-focused content
- Supports campaign alignment across web and digital channels
- Provides guidance on tone, voice, and visual identity
- Assists with content strategy for key university initiatives
Departmental Website Support
IT works closely with divisions, departments, schools, and programs to support their web presence by:
- Assisting with site updates, enhancements, and redesign efforts
- Providing consultation on structure, usability, and functionality
- Ensuring content contributors follow ECSU Web Standards and accessibility guidelines
- Offering tools and resources to maintain accurate, up-to-date content

Departments and units requiring website updates or technical support should submit requests through the designated Webpage Change Request Form available on the Employee Portal.
