Let's Go Global!

The Office of International Programs at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) is designed to build a campus-wide global-learning perspective through academic exchanges that foster service, self-awareness, and advocacy. Students, faculty, staff and administrators may study abroad, conduct research, or participate in faculty-led trips. ECSU is committed to building and managing partnerships with universities and providers from around the world and being a standard for internationalization for Historically Black Colleges and Universities, (HBCU) in particular, but all small institutions in general.

Elizabeth City State University collaborates with stakeholders to develop and deliver safe, high-quality study abroad and international programming that foster academic, personal, and professional growth for students, staff, faculty, and administrators.

To become the premiere HBCU in the region that provides optimal study abroad opportunities for students, staff, faculty and administrators.

Goals & Objectives

Provide opportunities and comprehensive support for students’ global and intercultural learning experiences at home and abroad.
 
Objective 1: Expand existing education abroad opportunities in alignment with academic and co-curricular activities.
Objective 2: Increase funding and scholarship opportunities that encourage greater participation in education abroad.
Broaden academic excellence and distinctiveness through a commitment to global intercultural learning, scholarship, and professional development
 
Objective 1: Ensure diversified faculty-led programs abroad.
Objective 2: Cultivate opportunities for faculty exchange in an effort to increase participation in teaching and. conducting research abroad
Provide opportunities for understanding a Black global perspective
 
Objective 1: Ensure a Black perspective is integrated into study abroad and international programming on campus.
Objective 2: Expand partnerships with education abroad organizations that include Black-centered experiences within their education abroad.
