Program Overview

The Health & Wellness Promotion program at Elizabeth City State University is a fully online, interdisciplinary degree focused on helping individuals and communities adopt healthier lifestyles.

This field combines health science and behavioral science to address real-world issues like:

  • Physical inactivity
  • Poor nutrition
  • Mental health challenges
  • Preventable diseases

Students learn how to influence behavior change and improve both short- and long-term health outcomes.

Curriculum and Learning Experience

Students gain a broad understanding of wellness through coursework that integrates multiple disciplines, focusing on:

🧪 Field & Research Experience

Students complete 6 credit hours of field and research experience, applying their knowledge in real-world settings.

Certification Pathway

Become a Certified Wellness Practitioner

PThis program prepares graduates to meet the requirements of the National Wellness Institute certification.

Students develop competencies in areas such as:

  • Self-awareness and professional growth
  • Whole-person wellness approaches
  • Inclusive and culturally responsive practices
  • Communication and leadership
  • Legal and ethical standards

Outcome:
Students are expected to sit for the Certified Wellness Practitioner (CWP) exam upon graduation.
