Supporting your access to healthcare while you’re enrolled at ECSU.

Who Needs Health Insurance?

Students enrolled in:

  • 6 or more credit hours
  • degree-seeking programs
  • main campus courses
  • and eligible for the Student Health Services fee

are required to have health insurance coverage.

Option 1 — Use Your Own Insurance

If you already have qualifying health insurance coverage:

Important

The waiver must be completed online before the semester deadline.

Students who do not complete the waiver process by the deadline will automatically be enrolled in the university-sponsored insurance plan.

Option 2 — Enroll in the ECSU Student Plan

Students who do not waive coverage will automatically receive the university-sponsored student health insurance plan.

Appeal Period Information

Students who miss the waiver deadline or have a waiver denied may qualify for a 2-week appeal period immediately following the waiver period.

This process applies across all UNC campuses.

Additional Medical Costs

Some medical services, lab work, and diagnostic procedures may not be covered under student insurance plans.

Any remaining balances are the responsibility of the student.
